With the brand extension almost coming to an end, the upper mid-card talents in Raw and Smackdown are finding it difficult to get a match on their respective shows. This is when WWE Superstars comes into play. This week, WWE Superstars featured several upper mid-card talents like John Morrison, R-Truth, Zack Ryder and Ezekiel Jackson, who were until last week featured prominently on either Raw or Smackdown. Let’s take a look at what happened in this week’s WWE Superstars.
Match 1: Ezekiel Jackson Vs Heath Slater
Singles Match
The intimidating Ezekiel Jackson faced off against ‘The one man southern rock band’ Heath Slater to kick off WWE Superstars this week. While the size difference between the two guys was visibly seen, Jackson clearly overpowered Slater by raw strength and power. Jackson ultimately got the victory after Heath Slater tapped out to Jackson’s torture rack submission hold. A good match for Jackson who currently has nothing in his hands as he lost his intercontinental championship, a few weeks ago. Slater seems to be improving his in-ring skills.
Winner: Ezekiel Jackson by submission
Match Duration: 3:08
Match Rating: 4/5
Match 2: Brodus Clay Vs Brandon James
Singles Match
Yet another local wrestler got brutalized by Brodus Clay. This week the guy’s name was Brandon James. Clay finished off the match in just under one minute to claim yet another win. Clay is consistently being built as a credible giant. We will have to wait and see whether Clay’s run continues or comes to an abrupt end.
Winner: Brodus Clay
Match Duration: 0:57
Match Rating: 2/5
Match 3: Zack Ryder Vs Tyson Kidd
Singles Match
The Self proclaimed WWE Internet Champion Zack Ryder locked horns with Tyson Kidd. While you may expect Kidd to be the winner, I’ve got a surprise for you. Zack Ryder won the match after hitting the rough rider on Kidd! Maybe its time that they give Zack Ryder his much needed push.
Winner: Zack Ryder
Match Duration: 4:43
Match Rating: 4/5
Match 4: John Morrison Vs R-Truth
Singles Match
Once again John Morrison and R-Truth faced off in a match. Both men showcased all their skill in this great match which lasted for more than 10 minutes. R-Truth got the win after John Morrison missed the starship pain on Truth. Another wonderful match in this never ending feud. Kudos to Morrison for the brave fight.
Winner: R-Truth
Match Duration: 11:32
Match Rating: 4/5
The Bottom Line:
Superstars this week was once again fantastic. Four singles matches involving some of the top stars of the WWE would never disappoint in any case. It would be better if the WWE continues to follow this same trend in the coming weeks too.
