Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman have had a long and storied history, dating back to their time together as part of The Wyatt Family.

Following his win over arch-nemesis John Cena at WrestleMania 36, Bray Wyatt would turn his attention to his former stablemate, Strowman, and the WWE Universal Championship.

At Money In The Bank, Bray Wyatt, performing under his Firefly Funhouse persona, would lose to Strowman. Following the match, Wyatt would disappear from WWE TV for a few weeks before returning on the June 19th episode of SmackDown to confront Strowman.

Bray Wyatt would re-introduce his "Eater of Worlds" gimmick and challenge Strowman to a Wyatt Swamp fight. At the event, Wyatt would defeat Strowmam after pulling the latter into the swamp with his signature Mandible Claw.

Following this, "The Fiend" would attack Strowman's Mixed Match Challenge partner Alexa Bliss on the July 31th episode of SmackDown.

Two weeks later, Strowman would return to the blue brand and attack Bliss before accepting The Friend's challenge for a Universal Championship match at SummerSlam. Bray Wyatt would defeat Strowman in the main event to win the title for a second time.
