Richter was supposed to be the female Hulk Hogan in the 1980s. She was partnered up with Cyndi Lauper during the "Rock N Wrestling Connection" era.

She defeated the Fabulous Moolah for the Women's Championship on MTV in front of a huge audience but contract disputes plagued her relationship with WWE.WWE put Wendi Richter in the Hall of Fame in 2010. It had been 25 years since her last match with the company.

In 1985, Richter was the victim of the "Original Screwjob". When contract negotiations fell flat between WWE and her, Vince had Fabulous Moolah dress up in a mask and pin Richter's shoulders to the mat for real to win back the belt.

That Richter's shoulders were up when the referee counted was sort of ignored.

Richter won the Women's Championship twice and held it for a combined 449 days.
