#5 WrestleMania 21

WrestleMania went Hollywood
WrestleMania went Hollywood

What makes WrestleMania 21 a better Mania than WrestleMania XX the year earlier, in my opinion at least, is the card was watered down and they didn't try fit so much in. It also paved the way for WWE's future.

WWE Tag Team Champions Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero opened the show against each other. It was a good opener, not a match on their earlier matches or matches to come in 2005 but a fine one none the less.

Edge would defeat Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Christian, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit to win the first-ever Money in The Bank Ladder match. It is still probably the best one, a jaw-dropping excellent effort.

The Undertaker pinned Randy Orton in a good match to extend his WrestleMania record. Trish Stratus retained the Women's Championship over Christy Hemme in a short match. Nothing much to it. Sumo wrestler Akebono beat the Big Show in a sumo match. Complete waste of time.

John Cena pinned JBL to win his first WWE Championship. A pinnacle moment in the career of Cena, of course, but the match itself was tedious. Batista pinned Triple H to become World Heavyweight Champion in the main event. It was a passable match, but pretty long winded to.

The best match of the night is now an all-time classic. The first-ever meeting between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle was simply incredible. Without a doubt the best match of the year. Certainly, a dream match that blew expectations out of the water.
