During a Number One Contender’s tag match at the May 2016 Payback event, Simon Gotch simply threw Enzo Amore into the ropes. It looked like he was trying to baseball slide Enzo underneath the ropes and out of the ring, but that’s not exactly what the result was.
Enzo’s head snapped on the bottom rope, knocking the Smacktalker Skywalker out cold. The match was abruptly ended as Amore was rushed to a local medical facility. Enzo suffered a concussion and was, thankfully, only out of action for a few short weeks.
This moment earned him the top spot on a countdown he likely won’t want to be number one on again in 2017.
