While the World Heavyweight Championship may not have entered the WWE in a technical sense until 2003, the history of the belt means that it is more than justified to be this high up. The big gold belt is as prestigious as they come in terms of championships, with some true icons of the game holding it before they even thought about going after the WWE Championship.
The last few years of its existence really hurt the belt’s overall credibility, which is a shame, but you can never forget some of the fantastic storylines and moments we’ve had because of it.
We’d love to see how it holds up in the present day, and who knows, maybe in the future, we’ll see it pop back up on our screens again.
