#4. A Universal Champion lost at Royal Rumble for the first time, albeit by disqualification
It seems like Royal Rumble and The Universal Champion have an unbreakable bond. Since its introduction in 2016, the title has been defended at every Rumble.
However, 2022 marked the first time a Universal Champion lost his match in the event. Though Roman Reigns was defeated by disqualification, it still counts as a loss. The Universal title is yet to change hands on at the event.
Moreover, its RAW counterpart, WWE Championship, witnessed a shift in champions after five years. The last time a WWE Champion lost at the Royal Rumble was in 2017 when John Cena defeated AJ Styles.
#3. AJ Styles' best performance at the Rumble
Since his debut in WWE, AJ Styles has been at the top of the promotion. The Royal Rumble will always be close to his heart since it is the place where it all started in 2016.
Having said that, AJ Styles has not been very impressive in past editions of the battle royal. This time the scenario was a bit different as hopes were high for The Phenomenal One.
Though he didn't survive as long as the fans expected, he could still be in the match for 29 minutes and 6 seconds. It was not only his best but the longest in this year's event. He also eliminated six superstars, more than any other entrant in 2022.
