Top 10 Irritating catchphrases in WWE history

What!?!

Without a doubt, there have been some great catch phrases throughout the history of WWE. The Rocks, “If you smell, what the rock, is cooking” is one of the greats along with Foley's "Have a Nice Day" is another one that fans tend to love.

With the good, there is also some really bad ones. The bad ones tend to be the most irritating of catchphrases that annoy the vast majority of fans.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

In this feature, we look at 10 of the most irritating catchphrases that make fans want to block their ears and tune out.

#10 Deal with it

There’s nothing worse than being told to “Deal with it”

Telling fans to “deal with it” is never going to make for a good catchphrase. Whether you like or dislike Batista there is no denying that he does bring a certain amount of star power to any show he is on.

Batista had a run with the company in 2014 and it was clear WWE fans wanted to see Daniel Bryan in the main event of Wrestlemania, and not Batista. He blatantly told the fans to just “deal with it” which definitely didn’t go down well with the fans as they grew tired of Daniel always losing his push to stardom.

It was irritating to hear as the WWE were shoving content down our throats that the majority of people didn’t want to see and we were all told we had to put up with it. At least we didn’t have to in the end and the fans got their way (thankfully).

#9 What

What!?!

What’s funny about this one is that it wasn’t even Steve Austin that made "What?!?" irritating. It was the fans that made "What?!?" irritating. When the fans are bored, they chant it. When the fans are in a good mood, they chant it, trying to "participate".

A really big annoying thing about this cant is that both Heels and Faces hear the chant. Austin doesn’t even have to be involved for the chant to be used. It can be an entertaining chant when Stone Cold decides to play to the crowed with it but the majority of the time the chant just gets more irritating the more you hear it.

On the flipside, it is an extremely iconic catchphrase within the world of professional wrestling.

#8 Awesome

So he thinks anyway . . .

"I'm The Miz, and I'm Awesome" does make sense for the Miz’s catchphrase as a heel. That does not take away from the fact it is one of the most irritating catchphrases in the WWE to date. He acts like a child with his constant overacting and terrible facial expressions and you can just picture him holding a hair brush to his face and cutting the “Awesome” promo in the mirror.

Even if we are supposed to hate the Miz I’m sure we can all admit we hate when Miz’s entrance music plays and the first thing you hear is “Awesome!” even more than the character himself.

#7 Really

The biggest child on the playground

So yep, Miz makes the list twice now. At least he is definitely never going to be a face within the company. Maybe some of you have experienced this on your own, or maybe you've seen it in videos on the internet, but think about two people having a serious argument that looks like it could escalate into a physical altercation.

Now think about one of those people saying something that the other person “Really” has no comeback for. The person with no comeback will probably just stand there for a few seconds, dumbfounded, and then say something along the lines of...Really? It all does come back to him being a child again.

He might as well say "I know you are, but what am I" like a school child would. It can just get under your skin and really make you hate the character more and more every time you hear it.

#6 Mrrrrrrrrrrr. Kennedy

I feel my ears burn already

When Mr. Kennedy first debuted in WWE it was easy to see he was good on the mic. One thing that he did on it leaves a lasting impression with many WWE fans, and not a good one at that.

It was his “Mrrrrrrrrrr Kennedy”, Kennedy that irritated many fans. His voice would become somewhat high pitched and louder as he basically screamed his name into the microphone.

This also irritated many fans as it led to him looking as though he loved the sound of his own voice. It has gotten to the point where people just become irritated seeing his face on their television screens, before he even grabs a microphone, because they know what is coming next.

#5 Destiny

We are still waiting Del Rio

Lots of wrestlers can talk about it being their “destiny” to win a title or maybe main event Wrestlemania etc. But with Del Rio, it seemed the only thing he could say which didn’t add a whole lot to his character.

Every single promo was him going off on his “destiny” to be a big star in the WWE, his “destiny” to win the gold and so on (wow did that get irritating). What makes it worse is that he never even backed it up because of injuries and quite frankly terrible pushes.

Del Rio never actually paid off on any of that promise. Even in his return, he has done absolutely nothing to solidify his “destiny” as the best.

#4 Who’s Next

Who’s Next?

Yes ok, some people may have liked this but let’s face it, it’s all Goldberg could really do on the mic.

It’s not as if anyone was expecting great mic skills out of a man booked to be an unstoppable monster, but at least a little better than “your next” would have been expected from a top level star. Goldberg would either defeat someone and then ask who was next, or he would defeat someone, and then point out who was next if he was feuding with someone at that particular time.

It was made even worse when he was feuding with people who were solid on the mic, he became sometimes came across as he just couldn't keep up at all with other guy. It would often make him come out of it looking like a fool.

#3 You can’t see me

I see you John

Whether you love him or you hate him you will know exactly who this catchphrase belongs to, even if you’re not a wrestling fan. He has to be respected for all that he has done for the company (and he has done a lot).

It’s funny though that the top performer is given one of the absolute dumbest lines ever. Really, “you can’t see me?” Yes, we can see you John, believe us, we can. The Rock even made a good point during their feud telling Cena how you can’t miss him as he’s everywhere in WWE, especially the last few years. Yes it’s from his old rapper gimmick as a heel but it just doesn’t make sense.

It gets more and more irritating the more you hear it (and there has been a lot of years of you can’t see me).

#2 Vintage

All vintage everything

Ah, it wouldn’t be an irritating catchphrase feature without Michael Cole being mentioned. He wasn’t always terrible. In his early days, him and Tazz and then JBL, were actually a good commentary team for “SmackDown” for a while. But since moving to RAW, Cole has just gotten worse and worse and here’s a key example as he pulls out the line “vintage” whenever a wrestler does an old move.

I think Cole needs to look-up the word “vintage” because it’s not meant to mean a classic move, especially not a move a wrestler pulls out in every match. “Vintage” Undertaker is one thing, but “Vintage” for a five-knuckle shuffle or RKO? It just makes no sense.

By that logic, we would be hearing “Vintage” Sheamus on our T.V.’s soon. It makes you cringe every time you hear it being used in the wrong context.

#1 The Guy

“He’s not a good guy, not a bad guy, he is the suspended guy”

Roman Reigns isn’t a good guy, but he’s not a bad guy either, he’s “the guy.” If you’re a wrestling fan then you know this because every single week Roman Reigns grabs a microphone, cuts a promo and then says, “I’m not a good guy, I’m not a bad guy, I’m ‘the guy.'”

Fans have had mixed opinions about Roman’s catchphrase, but it’s clear that the folks at WWE have made up their minds about it (Ok who am I kidding, Nobody likes it).

What makes this even worse is that WWE recently put together a new Top 10 video which features the best Superstar catchphrases of the last decade and guess what? Roman Reigns landed at number 1. I think WWE meant worst catchphrases of the last decade.
