#3 Aleister Black
Well, he was atop the mountain for a shorter time than had been anticipated, but Black has still been one of NXT's most dominant forces. Having only been pinned twice in NXT and once as Tommy End during the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Black's loss to Tomasso Ciampa on NXT television came as a huge surprise.
While Johnny Gargano played a huge part, it looked like NXT TakeOver Brooklyn may have been Black's final bow in NXT before heading to Raw or SmackDown - but having now been pulled from the event due to a groin injury, matters seem a bit more complicated.
Black has already appeared on WWE television, defeating Curt Hawkins on WWE Main Event during a European tour and, with nothing else left to do in NXT, having won the NXT Championship and romped the NXT Year-End Awards, with three awards for Rivalry of the Year (with Velveteen Dream), Breakout Star of the Year, and Male Competitor of the Year, you'd think it may be time for Black to join Raw or SmackDown.
The only possible reason Black may return to NXT is that WWE opted to have someone attack him in a car park to write him off television for his injury, so the loose end may mean he will have to return to NXT and seek vengeance on his attacker.
