10 NXT stars who were brought up to the main roster before they were ready

The NXT brand has become something of a phenomenon over the past few years, with Triple H proving that he has what it takes to prise the reins of WWE out of Vince McMahon's grip over the next few years.

The likes of Seth Rollins, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe have already set the bar for former NXT superstars, but the issue here is the fact that all three men had experience in the business before they signed with the company, this isn't the case with every star on the brand.

The NXT crowd is one of the main reasons why the brand has been so successful and even though many of the stars that were made in NXT have gone on to do incredible things on the main roster, there are some who were given the push before they were fully prepared for what awaited them.

#10 Apollo Crews

The WWE Universe still don't know what Apollo's character actually is
The WWE Universe still don't know what Apollo's character actually is

Apollo Crews was a superstar who was seemingly one of Triple H's favourites whilst he was in NXT which could be why he was promoted to the main roster so quickly.

The former Independent star was fully prepared for the promotion, but it seems that the main roster wasn't ready for him. If he remained in NXT longer then he could have been Champion by now or would have been part of much better storylines than his current one with Titus O'Neil.

Apollo was promoted so quickly that the WWE Universe was never able to find out what his gimmick actually is, that's if he even has one. A few more months in NXT could have allowed him to figure out a character and a foundation to then put his main roster career on, but it seems that Triple H was happy to push him forward and he was only too happy to oblige.

#9 Tye Dillinger

Tye Dillinger could have benefitted from a few more months in NXT
Tye Dillinger could have benefitted from a few more months in NXT

"The Perfect 10" was able to become a firm fan favourite with the NXT Universe before he made his main roster debut at The Royal Rumble main event back in January. Rather than capitalizing on this, WWE decided to sent Tye back to NXT and then have him debut on the SmackDown Live brand a few months later instead.

Tye was fantastic as an addition to The Royal Rumble match, but it seems that he has failed to continue what he started at the beginning of the year. It isn't all Dillinger's fault, he hasn't been given the opportunity he deserves on the main roster since his debut, but it seems that he isn't pushing hard enough for these opportunities either. There is nothing about Dillinger that makes him stand out above anyone else on the SmackDown roster, so why should WWE push him?

If he remained in NXT for a few more months then he could have worked on ways to ensure that he was a cut above the rest, but much like every other star down there, Dillinger just wanted to make it to the main roster and now he's been lost amongst the shuffle.

#8 Nia Jax

Nia has made a number of mistakes in her first year on the main roster
Nia has made a number of mistakes in her first year on the main roster

Nia Jax was promoted to the main roster as part of the WWE draft back in 2016, and whilst she was a fantastic addition to the women's division, she wasn't quite prepared for the change of scenery.

Nia has made a number of mistakes in matches over the past year, and with one of these mistakes she injured Bayley and forced her to sit out of SummerSlam back in August.

There have been a number of times where Nia has performed a move wrong and risked injuring her opponent this year, things that could have been prevented if she was able to train in NXT for longer. Nia brings something different to the show that much is obvious, but Nia isn't being used effectively in the women's division anyway, so what is stopping her from returning to NXT for a few months now?

#7 The Ascension

Konnor and Viktor have had an uneventful few years on the main roster
Konnor and Viktor have had an uneventful few years on the main roster

The former NXT Tag Team Champions came to the main roster in a storyline that saw them trying to abuse legendary WWE tag teams. It probably wasn't the best way for them to be introduced to a new fan-base and it lead to the legends getting revenge on them just a few months later.

Since then, The Ascension have just been making up the numbers in main roster tag team matches, which is unfair to them because they have the potential to do so much more. Konnor and Viktor proved themselves in NXT and if they had remained on the developmental brand a little longer then they may never have been part of the storyline that essentially killed their career.

#6 Sarah Logan

Logan has stood out in her group for all the wrong reasons
Logan has stood out in her group for all the wrong reasons

Sarah Logan has been working on the Independent Circuit for the past six years, which should have prepared her for a promotion to the main roster alongside Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan a few weeks ago.

Logan was only introduced to the WWE Universe as part of the Mae Young Classic a few months ago and it seems that she was unable to leave a lasting impression. She was given the mic this week on SmackDown Live which proved that she definitely could have benefitted from a few promo lessons in NXT before she was given the green light to join the main roster.

Logan is the only female wrestler whose promotion in recent weeks looks out of place, which is unfair because she has more experience than most of the former NXT women, but she has just not been able to prove it.

#5 Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze was promoted before the main roster knew what to with him
Tyler Breeze was promoted before the main roster knew what to with him

Tyler Breeze was down in NXT for a long time before WWE finally decided to take a gamble and allow "Prince Pretty" to join the SmackDown roster, the only issue was that the company had no idea what to do with him after his feud with Dolph Ziggler came to a close.

Breeze was one of the most popular stars in NXT throughout his time at Full Sail University, but it seems that he was unable to connect with the crowd on the main roster in the same way, which has meant that he has become another wasted talent on the main roster over the past year.

His comedy gimmick with Fandango has finally allowed Breeze to put his career back on life support, but WWE is still not willing to take a gamble on the Fashion Police, which makes you wonder what the future plans for the duo actually are.

#4 Dana Brooke

Dana;'s ability has come into question over the past few months
Dana's wrestling ability has come into question over the past few months

There is no doubting that Dana Brooke has athletic ability unlike any other female in the division right now, but her wrestling skills are not on par with the women on the main roster.

Dana was able to get by in NXT because she had Emma by her side and this was a good enough distraction, but now that she's alone trying to make it as a singles competitor in one of the most competitive divisions in WWE, it seems that her flaws are there for the world to see.

Dana makes a lot of mistakes but she is also improving, she wasn't needed on the main roster when she was originally called up, so there is no reason why she couldn't have benefitted from a few more months at the Performance Centre to ensure that she was fully prepared for her ability to be put under the microscope by the WWE Universe.

#3 Enzo Amore

Enzo's promo ability is the only reason he's survived on the main roster
Enzo's promo ability is the only reason he's survived on the main roster

The only reason Enzo Amore was promoted to the main roster was because of how popular he and Big Cass had become down in NXT and the company wanted to cash in on that.

Enzo and Cass were fine for a number of months, until their split when they were pitted against each other and Enzo's poor skills in the ring were finally revealed. When he was tagging with Cass, Enzo only had to perform a few moves and leave the rest to his partner, he was unable to do that in a singles match, which revealed all of his flaws.

Amore has since gone on to become Cruiserweight Champion, which is a shock since every wrestler on that brand is more experienced and accomplished than the former NXT star which has made him public enemy number one over the past few months.

#2 Mojo Rawley

Mojo in't ready for a singles push just yet

Mojo isn't ready for a singles push just yet

Mojo Rawley was promoted to the main roster alongside Zack Ryder when the duo were known as The Hype Bros. Following Zack's injury back in 2016, Mojo was forced to perform as a singles wrestler for a number of months and was even able to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33.

The Hype Bros came to an official end last week on SmackDown Live and now Mojo will be forced to do it alone in the coming months, something that he was unable to do effectively earlier this year.

It is well-known that Triple H is a big fan of Mojo, but it seems that the WWE Universe aren't. Mojo is definitely lacking when it comes to his in-ring ability when he is performing alone, something that could have been picked up on if the WWE COO wasn't happy to send him up to the main roster before he was ready.

#1 Mandy Rose

Rose has already shown a number of flaws in her ability in recent weeks
Rose has already shown a number of flaws in her ability in recent weeks

It's a push to consider Mandy Rose as an NXT superstar since she appeared on the brand just once in a losing effort to current Women's Champion Ember Moon, but it seems that despite missing that step on the ladder, Mandy has already made her way to the main roster.

Alongside Sonya Deville, the former Tough Enough star has only been on the main roster for three weeks, which was seemingly long enough for the WWE Universe to speculate that she wasn't ready for such a huge push. Mandy has been the weak link in her group since they debuted the night after Survivor Series and has botched two of her own moves over the past two weeks.

Sonya and Paige won't always be there to conceal Mandy's flaw, when she's forced to perform in her first singles match on the main roster they will all be there for the world to see.
