#5 Randy Savage faxed Ricky Steamboat a running order of their match before WM 3
Wrestlemania 3 is widely considered to be the greatest single PPV the WWE has ever produced. This is largely down to two key aspects - Hulk Hogan's victory over Andre the Giant following a classic feud, and the Intercontinental Championship match between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat.
One of the criticisms of the first two Wrestlemania shows was a lack of solid in-ring wrestling. The two events were said to have focused too heavily on the spectacle and celebrity involvement. Wrestlemania 3 alleviated some of these concerns as Savage and Steamboat put on one of the best-worked matches in Mania history.
On paper, one would expect these two performers to be able to put on a strong performance, whatever the occasion. But Macho Man was always known as somebody who took his matches very seriously indeed, which no doubt helped the quality and flow of his performances overall.
His showdown with Steamboat at Mania 3 was no exception. In fact, it is now fairly commonly known that prior to the event, Savage faxed Steamboat a full rundown of the moves the two men would be utilising including point number one which stated that the pair would 'lock up'.
Working a match with Savage might have been quite an arduous affair at times, but as far as the audience was concerned, we loved him all the more for it.
