EC3 is one of those Superstars who couldn't impress the higher-ups during his first run, went to TNA and became incredibly popular there, and came back to become one of the most sought after Superstars on NXT.

Monday Night Raw's ratings slump a few months ago forced WWE to take some quick decisions out of desperation. One of these decisions was to call up a bunch of NXT recruits on the main roster. EC3 had tons of promise and was an excellent talker.
The first thing WWE did upon calling him up was to turn him into a mute! He debuted on Alexa's talk show and was interrupted by Dean Ambrose. He went on to lose to The Lunatic Fringe in quick fashion and has done nothing since then.
EC3 is dangerously moving towards becoming an afterthought and a SmackDown run won't hurt him at this point. Spending some time on the blue brand is what's best for NXT's heartthrob.
