#5 Samoa Joe worked as a mortgage broker
![It's hard to imagine Samoa Joe in a suit and tie working his day job, but the truth is stranger than fiction.](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2019/06/e0b1c-15618621781387-800.jpg 1920w)
Samoa Joe didn't just fall into pro wrestling immediately after high school. Like many others in his profession, he had to work a day job for a time before pro wrestling fame came calling.
While some might think Joe's job prior to wrestling would have involved athletics in some fashion, such as being a personal trainer or coach, the truth is he was a mortgage broker.
Top name doesn't want to enter the WWE Hall of Fame. More details HERE.
A mortgage broker is about as far away from pro wrestling as you can get. Joe's job was to speak with prospective clients about their housing needs and find a way for them to pay for a home via bank loans.
It's an unlikely career choice for a man who would eventually be known as a violent Samoan Submission Machine.
