Ryback had the full weight of WWE creative behind his massive shoulders, but still failed to truly resonate with the WWE audience despite a catchy phrase (Feed Me More.) He was released by the company and now works for the indie circuit.
Why WWE doesn't need to hire him back: Ryback was considered an unsafe wrestler, drawing criticism from his peers backstage. Also, he really isn't all that good on the mike or in the ring, and all he has is a powerful physique--something men like Jinder Mahal also possess, in addition to the ability to actually wrestle.
