Truth was released by WWE in 2002, after which he went on to become a top star in Impact Wrestling. When Truth was released, he took it as a sign that he needed to mature and grow up.

In 2008, Truth was signed back to WWE. He proceeded to talk to Vince McMahon, and thanked him for firing him back in 2002. Truth told McMahon that the release gave him a chance to grow as a performer and human being.
Years later, it's safe to say that Truth's firing was the best thing that could have happened to him at that point.
