On an episode of SmackDown, Mysterio mentioned Eddie Guerrero while trying to reason with Batista. The Animal responded with "Eddie's dead", getting incredible heel heat from the live crowd.
This came in as a shocker to everyone in attendance, considering how close Guerrero and Batista were back during his final days. Batista went on to defeat Mysterio in a Street Fight on SmackDown, but lost a No. 1 contender's match against him for The Undertaker's World title. The feud soon came to an end and Batista set his sights on WWE Champion John Cena.
