Alberto Del Rio and Mil Mascaras

Mil Mascaras is one of the greatest luchadors of all time. An absolute legend in his native Mexico, Mascaras also made several appearances for WWE. A ban on masked wrestlers at Madison Square Garden was revoked just so Mascaras could perform. In the ’90s, Mascaras also appeared on PPV for WWE, taking part in the 1997 Royal Rumble match, where he inexplicably eliminated himself by launching himself over the top rope.
Mascaras’ oldest nephew is none other than former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio. The Mexican star made his WWE debut on an episode of SmackDown in 2010. He portrayed a rich aristocrat heel and was quickly pushed to the top, winning his first world championship at SummerSlam 2011. He came out after CM Punk defeated John Cena to retain the championship, cashing in his MITB contract. He beat Punk in the subsequent match to win his first world title in the company.
