The year was 1997 and both Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels feuded with The Hart Foundation. The two WWE legends decided to join forces against the Hart Foundation for a brief period and won the tag-team titles on the 26th May, 1997 episode of WWE RAW.

However, they didn’t end up holding the title for too long and had to vacate the belts after Michaels was suspended following a backstage altercation with Bret Hart.

Stone Cold went on to team up with Dude Love to challenge for the titles and the duo ended up winning them.

#1 Ric Flair and Roddy Piper

Leading into Cyber Sunday 2006, two of the biggest icons in wrestling history – Ric Flair and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper – joined forces to face Kenny and Mikey of the Spirit Squad for the Tag-Team titles.

Against all odds, Flair and Piper defeated their much younger opponents to walk out as the WWE Tag-Team Champions. The duo are still the oldest team to win the WWE Tag-Team Championships. This was also the last title Roddy Piper won in the WWE.

Pay-per-views like Cyber Sunday and Taboo tuesday gave the WWE universe an option to choose the participants and match stipulations. The fact that Flair and Piper were chosen to do the job just showed the adulation the WWE fans had for these legends.
