Chris Jericho defeated Roman Reigns in a handicap match (KO was Chris's partner) to win his first United States Championship.
During his reign, Jericho had a memorable match with fellow Canadian Sami Zayn on an episode of RAW where the duo put on one of the finest matches ever.
He held on the title for quite a while before losing it to his former best friend Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 33.
After Owens moved to the blue brand, Chris invoked his rematch clause for WWE Payback with a stipulation that if Y2J wins he will become a part of SmackDown Live.
KO lost his title in that match which led to Jericho's arrival on the blue brand. Though Jericho held the title only for one night (as he lost his title to KO on his first night), he achieved the rare feat of holding a championship on both the brands.
