Finn Balor has been meddling with Gunther's business for weeks, and that has put him on The Ring General's radar. The Prince attacked Damian Priest during the World Heavyweight Championship match at Survivor Series: WarGames and assaulted the 2024 King of the Ring on the RAW after the Thanksgiving spectacle.
At Saturday Night's Main Event, Finn Balor will face the World Heavyweight Champion in a title match. While The Archer of Infamy will likely aim to interfere in the bout, there is another man the former Universal Champion should be cautious about. It's his current Judgment Day stablemate, Dominik Mysterio.
On this week's episode of Monday Night RAW, Finn Balor made a bold statement about The Judgment Day. He claimed that as long as everyone listened to him, the faction would win. Of course, Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, and Raquel Rodriguez found the claim distasteful.
Furthermore, The Prince attacking The Archer of Infamy despite the faction agreeing to stay away from the former Judgment Day member has ruffled some feathers.
WWE has continued to showcase the rising tension between 'Dirty' Dom and the World Tag Team Champion. At Saturday Night's Main Event, the faction can finally implode if Dominik Mysterio stops The Prince from dethroning Gunther.
Dominik does have reasons to ensure Finn Balor doesn't become champion. First, 'Dirty' Dom has been eyeing the championship ever since The Ring General dethroned Damian Priest. Second, Balor has been positioning himself as the leader of The Judgment Day, even though it has been established that the heel faction doesn't have a figurehead.
If Balor wins the World Heavyweight Championship, he will likely become the true leader of The Judgment Day and hold immense power. To avoid that, 'Dirty' Dom might interfere in the title match and cost The Prince a potential championship win.
Dominik first started appearing in WWE storylines in 2005. He sporadically appeared on the company's programming for years before officially signing a contract in 2020.
WWE veteran expresses frustration over Finn Balor's booking
While Finn Balor is pursuing the World Heavyweight Championship, he seems to be ignoring the title he already holds. JD McDonagh and Balor appear at WWE events with the World Tag Team Championship belts around their waists but rarely defend them on TV.
WWE veteran Vince Russo expressed his frustration over the way The Prince was being booked to compete for the World Heavyweight Title while WWE was completely ignoring the gold he already had.
"The tag champs have defended the belts twice in six months. Come on, guys, like seriously. I'm not being a hard 'you know what,' but this stuff is ridiculous. And then, on tonight's show, the guy who defended the tag titles twice in the past six months now has a shot against Gunther? Come on, guys! Don't sit there and tell me this is brilliant booking, it's not!"
The logic behind WWE seemingly ignoring the World Tag Team Title is unknown. Meanwhile, Balor is all set to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship soon.
