Roman Reigns made his blockbuster return at SummerSlam 2024 and attacked Solo Sikoa, helping Cody Rhodes stand tall and retain his Undisputed WWE Championship. After nearly four months of absence, The Original Tribal Chief came back and he is about to start a feud with Sikoa and the new version of The Bloodline. The 39-year-old star will appear on SmackDown this Friday and will potentially have a confrontation with Solo.
It is a no-brainer that Sikoa will look to take revenge after Roman cost him the opportunity to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time in his career. Thus, Reigns will need help to deal with The Bloodline and a two-time WWE Champion could come to his aid on SmackDown. That would be AJ Styles.
AJ Styles will return to SmackDown this Friday
AJ Styles has not been seen on TV since the Clash at the Castle 2024 Premium Live Event, where he lost an Undisputed WWE Championship match to Cody Rhodes.
This was back in mid-June and Styles has been working in live events in between. Still, The Phenomenal One will be back to the blue brand this Friday, and he could come to the aid of The Original Tribal Chief against The Bloodline.
AJ Styles' stint as a heel was unsuccessful
When AJ Styles came back to WWE SmackDown, he had a heel turn and targeted Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. His goal was to become champion again but he failed to do so, while he also lost to LA Knight at WrestleMania XL.
After that, he targeted Cody Rhodes but failed to win the Undisputed WWE Championship in two premium live events as well as the latest WWE Japan Tour (July 25-27).
Thus, becoming a babyface again and starting new storylines could be the best option for The Phenomenal One at the moment.
AJ Styles needs a new storyline to work on
With LA Knight and Cody Rhodes having the major titles on SmackDown, AJ Styles needs a new storyline to work on.
He cannot go after Rhodes again, while it is too early for WWE to re-ignite Styles' feud with LA Knight just a few months after WrestleMania XL. Thus, becoming a babyface and siding with Roman Reigns could be the perfect storyline for The Phenomenal One at the moment.
