#1 Succeeded: John Cena
In September 2017, the ‘dream match’ between John Cena and Roman Reigns finally took place when “The Big Dog” defeated the 16-time world champion in one of the marquee matches at the No Mercy pay-per-view.

Three years earlier, the two men teamed together seven times in the summer of 2014 following The Shield’s break-up, with Cena even becoming an honorary Shield member in June 2014 to help Reigns and Dean Ambrose defeat The Wyatt Family on Raw.
Much like the team of Reigns & Bobby Lashley in 2018, Reigns & Cena joined forces in the build-up to their No Mercy match by facing Samoa Joe & The Miz and Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows in tag team matches on Raw in August 2017.
Overall, they teamed up in a total of 10 televised matches on WWE programming between 2014 and 2017, winning on all 10 occasions.
