The Princess of Staten Island should be a dark horse this year

There is no doubt that Carmella was one of the underused names last year, but she could start the new year with a bang if she manages to become victorious at Royal Rumble. The Princess of Staten Island doesn't have a major storyline now nor she is in the title picture.

Making her main roster debut in 2016, Carmella has been one of the top stars of the women's division, winning the women's Money in the Bank match once and the SmackDown Women's Championship once. Moreover, she had captured the 24/7 Championship twice last year. Having separated from R-Truth, who got drafted to RAW, Carmella faced Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville a couple of times, dominating both women to attain momentum.

Carmella's last and only title reign lasted 131 days, proving her credibility as a champion. After a substandard last year, Carmella deserves to be at the top once again, and a Royal Rumble win will not only allow her to headline WrestleMania but also help her to return in the title picture.
