WWE has seen different kinds of betrayals throughout the years. But, 2024 was when some of the most memorable partnerships ended and unexpected twists occurred.
At SummerSlam 2024, Dominik Mysterio betrayed Rhea Ripley for Liv Morgan while Finn Balor betrayed Damian Priest. Imperium kicked out Giovanni Vinci, The Miz turned his back on R-Truth, Kevin Owens attacked Cody Rhodes and more. However, fans saw these betrayals coming before they happened.
For this list, we will look at the WWE betrayals in 2024 that came out of nowhere.

#5. Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes were a memorable WWE NXT duo
The current WWE NXT product has produced some great up-and-coming stars, whether as singles performers or in groups. A couple of stars that have successfully emerged from the current iteration of the brand are Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Although they are now successful as solo stars in different brands, it didn't always start that way.
Tension between the duo began in October 2023 when Williams was given a chance to become a contender for Ilja Dragunov's NXT Championship but was attacked backstage before it could happen. In February, their partnership truly crumbled when Hayes attacked Trick at Vengeance Day. They main-evented that year's Stand & Deliver, where Trick won. Now, Melo is on SmackDown while Trick remains on the Tuesday show as the brand's champion.
#4. Solo Sikoa betrayed Roman Reigns after WrestleMania XL
The aftermath of WrestleMania XL took a major toll on The Bloodline. After Roman Reigns lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes, he also lost the leadership of The Bloodline, and the status of The Tribal Chief after Solo Sikoa took it away in his absence. A lot has transpired since then.
Reigns returned at SummerSlam and cost his cousin the Undisputed WWE Title against Cody. Roman and Rhodes teamed up against Solo and Jacob Fatu, and recently, the OG Bloodline with CM Punk went head to head against the New Bloodline at WarGames, with The OTC taking the victory.
#3. Dakota Kai betrayed Bayley twice
Bayley is this year's WWE Women's Royal Rumble winner. At first, she teased facing Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship but then chose her former Damage CTRL stablemate IYO SKY instead after revealing she knew they had been plotting against her for a while.
At first, it was just SKY, Kairi Sane, and Asuka who betrayed The Role Model. When Dakota Kai returned due to an injury, she initially sided with Bayley but later betrayed her during WWE SmackDown. The Role Model defeated IYO at WrestleMania to become the Women's Champion but dropped it to Nia Jax at SummerSlam.
#2. Johnny Gargano ended his 20-year friendship with Alex Shelley
Johnny Gargano and Alex Shelley may not be in the same group in WWE, but they have known each other for much longer than they have been in the company. Both men have known each other since 2006 and the DIY star has even credited the Motor City Machine Guns member as his inspiration and "big brother." However, that all ended last Friday.
Tommaso Ciampa has been irate and frustrated for the past few weeks on SmackDown after continuously failing to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. He initially expressed doubt that Gargano would turn his back on him due to his closeness with Alex, but that was all proven wrong when he low-blowed Chris Sabin and superkicked Shelley to claim the gold for DIY.
#1. The New Day unexpectedly kicked out Big E on WWE RAW
The New Day has been on shaky ground these past few months. After feuding with The Final Testament, Xavier Woods has grown more frustrated and erratic. Many fans expected him to betray Kofi Kingston and end the group, especially after a shouting match ensued backstage before their 10th anniversary. However, their plans were much worse.
On The New Day's 10th Anniversary, Big E returned to WWE RAW after two years. He offered some words of encouragement to his groupmates but got criticism in return. Kofi and Xavier expressed their anger, asking why E didn't return for them earlier and that he should've just retired from wrestling, before asking him to exit the ring.
