When a Tables Match was the announced stipulation for a contest between Seth Rollins and John Cena, WWE's intent was quite clear to the jaded eye. While the chain of events leading to Cena's eventual win over Rollins hurt the match's quality, the events helped both Superstars. Coming close to defeating Cena being a heel only helped him grow as the promotion's top villain. Even with a loss, Rollins still holds WWE's most opportunistic championship with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion set to return.

With the victory, Cena retained his status as the number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and to that end, WWE wasted no time making the announcement of when he'll get his next shot. Cena vs. Brock Lesnar is now official for the Royal Rumble event scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
