It was the last episode of the blue brand before the Grandest Stage of Them All and the elation was sky-high this week. Following some blockbuster episodes in the last few weeks, Smackdown Live was anticipated to have a spectacular show. It was an excellent episode of Smackdown Live as the final chapter closed before WrestleMania on Sunday.
The WWE Champion Daniel Bryan had a contract signing with Kofi Kingston who crossed several hurdles to headline WrestleMania while AJ Styles and Randy Orton had a brawl on Kevin Owens Show. Surprisingly, the recently crowned Smackdown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair was absent from the show, but Becky Lynch appeared to announce that she will become a double champ in New Jersey.
The Miz won the Falls Count Anywhere handicap match against the Sanity, and it will certainly boost his confidence. Alexa Bliss announced that the Usos will defend the twin belts against three other teams at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Moreover, Samoa Joe obtained momentum after beating Ali.
Here, we discuss three things WWE secretly told us on Smackdown Live this week:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3 New Day and Hardy Boyz don't have any tag team match in New Jersey
Vince McMahon's billion dollar company gave an unforeseen surprise when Alexa Bliss announced that the Usos will put the Smackdown Tag Team Titles on the line against Rusev and Nakamura, Aleister Black and Ricochet and the Bar at the Show of Shows. Considering the New Day and Hardy Boys are part of the blue brand, it is certainly an appalling decision. New Day is involved in the WWE Championship storyline while the Hardy Boys will take part at Andre the Giant Battle Royal match.
Considering the performance of Xavier Woods and Big E last week, several fans expected a title shot for the two New Day members. They achieved an insurmountable task last week when they overpowered five other teams in a Tag Team Gauntlet match. With the WWE Championship storyline, they have been the focal point of Smackdown Live.
Hardy Boyz reunited when Matt Hardy returned to Smackdown Live. Considering their legacy, they were expected to compete for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles, but it is not likely to happen.
#2 Styles vs Orton could stand out from the rest at WrestleMania
There is no denying that AJ Styles and Randy Orton could tear the house down at the Showcase of Immortals on Sunday. We saw a preview of WrestleMania when the two men had a brawl on Smackdown Live. They appeared on the Kevin Owens Show, and they got in a scuffle after Owens left the ring.
The two men started the rivalry before Fastlane, but it officially began at Fastlane when Styles attacked Orton. In all honesty, it has been one of the best build-ups as the two former WWE Champions provided astounding promos for weeks. The two veterans will head to New Jersey to prove their supremacy on Smackdown Live.
Styles and Orton fought once in the past when the latter overpowered Styles. Hence, Styles will be looking for redemption at the Show of Shows. Besides cutting brilliant promos, they are proficient on the squared circle, and we could expect a remarkable bout in New Jersey.
#1 Kofi Kingston will become the WWE Champion after beating all the odds
WWE already announced an official contract signing between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan this week and it happened without any interference of Vince McMahon. The two men had an intense segment as the New Day member took a jibe at Bryan. A similar contract signing took place before Fastlane, but the Chairman replaced Kingston with Owens. Following lionhearted efforts from Kingston in the last few weeks, the New Day member is set to conquer Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the WWE Championship storyline has been one of the best storylines of this WrestleMania. Kingston climbed the top of the ladder after crossing numerous hurdles. Besides Kingston, the other two New Day members did a commendable job as they helped Kingston to achieve his dream last week.
It is no secret that the storyline is similar to Bryan's rise to the top in 2014. Considering the current WWE Champion overcame all the obstacles five years ago, we can expect the same from Kingston this year. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if the other two New Day members will turn on Kingston and it could lead to an exciting feud after the Showcase of Immortals.
