NXT Takeover: Toronto is in the books and it’s time to deal with the fallout of the show. If you haven’t checked out the show, Sportskeeda has you covered. You can also check out the best and worst portions of the event here.
One of the most highly anticipated fights of the evening was Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano in a 2 out of 3 Falls match. The match was a culmination of a feud that will go down in history as one of the best in NXT. The bout itself was a masterpiece as both men are great in-ring technicians and have tons of chemistry.
Gargano failed to regain the NXT Championship, sparking rumors that this might have been his last match as a member of the NXT roster. William Regal fanned the flames of the rumors as he came out and hugged Johnny Gargano at the end of the match, something he normally doesn’t do.

#3 Johnny Gargano vs. Buddy Murphy
The first feud Johnny Gargano should have on the main roster is against Buddy Murphy. The feud will serve to showcase his talents to the wider WWE Universe and make him more of a household name.
If the WWE choose to pursue this feud, there are multiple ways it can play out; however, I’ll only look at the most likely one.
After the beat down that Roman Reigns inflicted on Buddy Murphy on the most recent episode of Smackdown, Buddy should try and get his revenge on Roman. Buddy should align himself with Rowan and Daniel Bryan to attack Roman. In the middle of the attack, Gargano should come down and make the save.
While Roman deals with Daniel Bryan, Gargano can deal with Murphy, giving both guys screen time.
This feud can also set the stage for a future rivalry between Daniel Bryan and Johnny Gargano.
#2 Johnny Gargano vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Johnny Gargano is a dream match that most people never expected to see. Both men are former NXT Champions and a match between them would be a clash of styles. The King of Strong Style facing one of the greatest pure wrestlers on the planet is bound to sell out arenas anywhere in the world.
How would this rivalry play out?
If Johnny goes to Smackdown, the first championship he should go after is the Intercontinental Championship. If Shinsuke is the champion at the time it will be pretty easy to set up the feud.
Gargano should win several matches making him the number one contender for the championship. As Gargano is trying to chase the championship, Shinsuke should use mind games against him. Shinsuke should make Gargano doubt himself to increase the drama and tension going into the match.
This match would go a long way in establishing Johnny Gargano as a credible star in WWE.
#1 Johnny Gargano vs. Daniel Bryan
When Johnny Gargano joined WWE, fans and critics alike compared him to Daniel Bryan, and with good reason. Both men are smaller than your average wrestler, and they are both ranked among the greatest wrestlers in the world. While the two have wrestled on the independent circuit, they are yet to meet in a WWE ring.
In an interview with Sports 360, Johnny Gargano revealed that a match against Daniel Bryan in the WWE would be a dream match. Daniel Bryan also said that he is interested in wrestling Johnny Gargano during an interview with Sports 360.
Both men are interested in facing each other and it’s just a matter of time before they do.
How would the feud play out?
Daniel Bryan is a perennial world title contender and it’s just a matter of time before he wins it again. When he wins the championship, Johnny Gargano should be one of the main contenders. If WWE play their cards right, they can plant the seeds for this feud on Gargano’s WWE debut.
The feud should culminate at WrestleMania, giving Gargano a chance to shine on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
