2024 was a successful year for a few WWE superstars, like Liv Morgan, who completed her revenge tour on Rhea Ripley and became the Women's World Champion. Nia Jax also had success as she became Queen of the Ring and went on to claim the Women's Championship.
Other WWE superstars, like Cody Rhodes, also had a very successful year, as the American Nightmare managed to finish his story and become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
For others, though, injuries sidelined them for the majority, or a small part, of 2024, costing them the opportunity to fight for a title. That said, we take a look at three gruesome injuries of 2024 in WWE.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
#3. Drew McIntyre suffered a gruesome injury at Bad Blood
Drew McIntyre did a great job as a heel for the major part of 2024 before an injury cost him two months of action. The Scottish Warrior had a brutal Hell in a Cell Match against CM Punk at Bad Blood, which settled his rivalry with The Best in the World.
During the match, he was busted open following a move from Punk and was bleeding heavily late into the match. The former World Heavyweight Champion had to get 16 staples following his defeat and spent significant time off to recover.
Drew McIntyre returned to RAW a couple of weeks ago and targeted Jey Uso and Sami Zayn, setting the stage for a match against the latter at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
#2. Shotzi had to miss nearly a year with an ACL injury
Shotzi was fighting for the NXT Women's Championship when she suffered a serious injury. She was taking on then-champion Lyra Valkyria for the title but tore her ACL just a few minutes into the match and was forced to leave the ring, with the referee calling the match off and Lyra Valkyria retaining the NXT Women's Championship.
Due to the ACL injury, Shotzi missed 10 months of action and returned to WWE during the December 10 episode of NXT, joining Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley against the Fatal Influence.
Now that she is back healthy after her serious injury, the question is whether Shotzi will re-enter the title picture, this time against the current NXT Women's Champion, Roxanne Perez.
#1. CM Punk forced to miss WWE WrestleMania 40
CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series in November 2023, nearly a decade after his departure from the company. He was one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania 40, but came up short and lost to Cody Rhodes.
This wasn't the worst thing for him, as he tore his triceps in the final minutes of the match and had to undergo surgery to repair the damage. He had to miss the next six months to fully recover and missed WrestleMania 40.
Still, his feud with the Scottish Warrior continued, eventually leading to three matches between SummerSlam in early August and Bad Blood in early October.
Fast forward to today, Punk is preparing for the Royal Rumble and has his sights set on WrestleMania 41 in April, where he could have a match for the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins.
