R-Truth wanted to live up to John Cena's status, but failed in the end

I have pointed out several times before how R-Truth's reign as United States Champion was already off to a rough start when he was not scheduled to appear on SmackDown Live episodes initially.

When he did show up, we saw R-Truth adopting a new gimmick, which included him idolising John Cena in order to live up to the latter's expectations.

While the gimmick itself had the potential to succeed if several improvements were made, it looks as if the party is over even before it could start.

R-Truth was just a transitional champion in the end. Whether or not he is booked to reclaim the United States Championship from the new champion, Samoa Joe, lies entirely in the hands of the writers backstage.

Let us know in the comments below: Do you think R-Truth deserves another shot at the United States title?
