Given the degrading product and dwindling viewership and ratings plus the increasing competition, WWE made Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff the new Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown respectively in hope of some revival. And Heyman's effect was quite evident as the last episode of Raw received positive reviews from both fans as well as critics alike.
While AJ Styles turning heel to beat the living daylights out of Ricochet with The Club was the highlight of the show, the backstage chaos involving Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley and the segment with NXT tag team Champions The Street Profits had Heyman's fingerprints all over it.
This week's episode also saw a rise of 10 per cent from the previous week's episode as the show garnered 2.4 million viewers. With Heyman being in charge of WWE's flagship show, things are expected to change for better and WWE would like him to continue doing the good work when Raw comes live from New Jersey next week.
WWE is advertising two huge tag team matches for the upcoming episode - Roman Reigns and a mystery partner vs Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre plus Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins vs Andrade and Zelina Vega. Given it will be the go-home episode of Raw before Extreme Rules, expect WWE to hype the pay-per-view.

In this article we are going to take a look at 3 interesting things which could happen on the upcoming episode of Raw.
#3 Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch get overpowered by the heels
Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch will face Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in a winners take all tag team matchup at Extreme Rules. However, before that, the duo will face the team of Andrade and Zelina Vega in a tag team match on the upcoming episode of Raw.
While it has the potential to be a classic match, expect it to turn chaotic sooner than later. Yes, the duo of Corbin and Evans could show up to join hands with Andrade and Vega in beating the life out of Rollins and Becky.
This would not only be their way of sending a strong message to the Champion Couple but would certainly hype their match for July 14.
#2 Shane McMahon names Elias as the mystery partner of Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns will join forces with The Deadman to take on Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a tag team match at Extreme Rules. However, before that, The Big Dog will team up with a mystery partner (of Shane McMahon's choosing) to take on the former SmackDown Commissioner and The Scottish Psychopath next week on Raw.
Given Shane McMahon will be choosing the mystery partner of The Big Dog, Elias looks likely to fill in the slot. Also, with The Deadman barred from interfering in the match, expect the heel trio to gang up on Reigns sooner than later.
Yes, Elias could join forces with the heel duo to beat up Roman Reigns to pick up an easy victory. The brutal assault could further continue resulting in The Deadman showing up to aid Roman only to be a victim of a 3-on-1 assault.
This would hype their match for Extreme Rules, and it would also make the heel duo of Shane and McIntyre look unstoppable.
#1 Steve Austin returns to promote his USA series
Stone Cold Steve Austin could be returning to Raw. Yes, you heard that right, The Rattle Snake has a new "Straight up Steve Austin" series premiering on the USA network on August 12. The show will feature Austin interviewing various WWE Superstars which will air immediately after Raw goes off-air.
Thus, according to Wrestling Observer, Stone Cold could appear on WWE TV in the upcoming weeks to promote his show.
While WWE has not announced it yet, it could be on the cards on the upcoming episode of Raw. The Rattle Snake's return on Raw would not only be a huge event but would also help WWE boost the dwindling viewership.
Furthermore, a physical altercation with a few local talents or a jobber could also be on the cards for Stone Cold, which would be a real treat to watch.
