All Elite Wrestling has generated immense speculation since being introduced this month, (watch the video below). Who will join the roster? Could they rival WWE? These questions bring back memories of the past. It almost mirrors WCW and WWE during the Monday Night Wars. That war afforded shocking moments still talked about today.
Considering WWE and how they performed in 2018, the future must be different. With the success of the All In PPV, Cody and The Young Bucks could be troublesome for WWE. However, this depends on their roster. Presently, it is minimal. Who will sign with AEW? In 2019 a new era is supposed to begin. How will WWE hit back at their potential rival? Let's explore some options.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3 Merge feuds between NXT, Raw, and SmackDown
Last year the NXT brand afforded excellent content. Fans witnessed the introduction of the NXT North American Championship. Moreover, the debuts of excellent wrestling characters, such as Matt Riddle and the majority of the NXT UK brand. Although the brand is standalone, it could be the saviour needed for WWE. Presently Raw and SmackDown have been lacklustre in entertainment value.
The talent within Raw and SmackDown is vast. The Raw brand includes notable talent such as; Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, and The Revival. Whereas, on SmackDown names include; Rusev, Andrade Cien Almas, and Gallows & Andersen. However, these wrestlers seem to lack direction. Recently matches have been repetitive, specifically on Raw, with Baron Corbin, (watch the video below). However, this changed with the prospect of new changes in recent weeks.
With the immense talent on all brands, there are great opportunities available. In recent months Tyler Breeze returned to NXT, to face Ricochet. Therefore, why not have others follow suit? Inter-brand feuds would improve ratings and refresh storylines. Moreover, with AEW in the midst, it could help WWE solidify their position, as the top promotion. A good example could be New Day versus Undisputed Era. It could happen between SmackDown and NXT.
#2 Sign Marty Scurll
Marty Scurll was a synonymous member of Bullet Club, then later, The Elite. However, upon the departure of Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks from NJPW, Scurll has remained with ROH/NJPW. In late 2018 Scurll extended his ROH contract, ending late April, according to pwpnation.com.
Scurll was integral within The Elite, and his performance was excellent. However, individually he is just as good, (watch the video below). Therefore, speculation could arise that Scurll could end up in AEW. However, he has yet worked in WWE. Thus the future looks bright for The Villain.
The primary reason Scurll would fit within WWE is his character portrayal. Arguably Scurll is as creative as names like; Chris Jericho, which says a lot for Scurll as a performer. Therefore, with NXT & NXT UK amassing a plethora of talent. Could Scurll bolster these brands? If WWE drafted Pete Dunne elsewhere, Scurll would be an excellent replacement? Moreover, it would be a setback for AEW.
# 1. Sign Kenny Omega
Perhaps one of the greatest wrestlers on the modern age, Kenny Omega has solidified his position within NJPW and ROH. Since 2010 Omega has drastically improved. He started alongside Kota Ibushi in a tag team, known as; The Golden Lovers. In following years Omega worked his way into Bullet Club, eventually becoming a core member.
At WrestleKingdom 11 Omega faced off with Kazuchika Okada, which was an epic match. It was this match that cemented future clashes between both wrestlers. Moreover, it cemented Omega as the top star in NJPW. However, at WrestleKingdom 13 Omega lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. His contract with NJPW ends in January. Therefore, will he join AEW?
According to Ringsidenews.com WWE has offered Omega a fantastic deal. Only time will tell if he joins. Nevertheless, to battle AEW, Omega joining WWE would be highly lucrative. Moreover, Omega has connections with existing WWE talent, notably, Xavier Woods. They both support video gaming and have met outside their respective promotions, (watch the video below). Could Woods help secure Omega into a WWE contract?
