Murphy is a former Cruiserweight Champion, and when he was moved to SmackDown Live from 205 Live, the WWE Universe had major expectations from him. However, apart from a handful of insignificant appearances, Murphy has not been used at all on the main roster.

While it is a given that there is no way WWE will allow Murphy to go over Reigns at the show, a good showing by the Australian Superstar would help elevate his stock in WWE going forward.

As per reports, WWE is planning to further the storyline between Reigns and Bryan at SummerSlam. Having Reigns compete against Murphy could lead to a scenario where he gets attacked yet again backstage when returning from his match against Murphy.

Another major possibility could be that Daniel Bryan and Rowan finally come out and reveal themselves as the attackers and blindside Reigns after his match and assault the former Universal Champion when he is least expecting it.
