3 matches that could steal the show at Survivor Series

Which matches could stand out from the rest?

Having completed SmackDown, the final weekly show before Survivor Series, the stage is set for the big event. For the first time in the history of Survivor Series, NXT, RAW, and SmackDown will be part of the show, making it a tri-brand event.

Survivor Series was the second pay-per-view created by WWE. The first was WrestleMania, which was a smash hit for the company in the spring of 1985, 1986, and 1987. Following that success, WWE decided to try out another big event, and it started out as a Thanksgiving tradition in 1987, a few months after WrestleMania III. Survivor Series is also one of the "big four" pay-per-views of WWE (along with Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam).

The Survivor Series match card is looking impressive this year, with a total of eight matches. There will be three triple threat matches and two 5-on-5-on-5 elimination tag team matches to crown the superior brand. The world champions of the RAW and SmackDown will not cross paths this year, and they are scheduled to defend their respective title, as is NXT Champion Adam Cole. Survivor Series will be hosted at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

With so many exciting matches on the card, the show is expected to be action-packed. Let's talk about three matches that could steal the show at Survivor Series this year.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#3 AJ Styles vs Roderick Strong vs Shinsuke Nakamura

It should be money
It should be money

For the avid wrestling fans wanting to see a top-notch bout, the battle between the mid-card champions should be one to look out for, as it has a ton of potential to steal the show. Roderick Strong, Shinsuke Nakamura, and AJ Styles will share the ring on Sunday to the best champion.

While the match didn't have a long build-up, things got serious this week, as they crossed paths on NXT and SmackDown. Unveiling a new look Intercontinental Title, three men got into a brawl on the Blue Brand.

Given the extraordinary in-ring talent of all three men, the match should stand out from the rest, especially if WWE gives them enough time to showcase their skills. Styles is arguably the best in-ring performer in the company, while Roderick Strong and Nakamura are not far behind. All three Superstars are heels, and they could go to any extent to secure the victory.

#2 Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler vs Bayley

Who will be the superior woman?
Who will be the superior woman?

It has been a fantastic year for women in WWE, as three women closed the show at the Grandest Stage of Them All. After the epoch-making triple-threat match at WrestleMania 35, another gigantic women's triple threat match is set to be one of the marquee matches at Survivor Series. Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Shayna Baszler will fight to prove the most dominant women's champion in WWE. Bayley and Becky Lynch will represent SmackDown and RAW respectively, while Shayna Baszler will represent NXT.

Attacking Bayley on SmackDown and confronting Becky Lynch on RAW, Shayna Baszeler, the NXT Women's Champion, started the rivalry. With sporadical appearances of all three women on the other brands' shows, the build-up has been outstanding, garnering a significang amount of attention from the fans.

There is no doubt that all three women are extraordinary performers in the squared circle, capable of tearing the house down on Sunday. Becky Lynch has been producing some of the best matches of her career as the holder of the RAW Women's Championship and it shouldn't be any different at Survivor Series. Bayley is one of the greatest performers on the Blue Brand, and Shayna Baszler has delivered a number of astounding matches as the NXT Women's Champion in her lengthy title reign. Expect some jaw-dropping maneuvers during this bout, which has the potential to be one of, if not the best women's match of the year.

#1 Rey Mysterio vs Brock Lesnar

The WWE Championship match
The WWE Championship match

With an incredible storyline involving Rey Mysterio's family, the WWE Championship match is one of the most anticipated matches for Sunday's Survivor Series event. The added 'No Holds Barred' stipulation to the bout could prove to beneficial, as it will allow both Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio to potentially take their match to the next level.

Brutally attacking Rey Mysterio and his son Dominic, Lesnar announced a war on the Season Premiere of RAW, and the WWE Championship match is the result of the unsparing attack. Mysterio brought in Lesnar's old foe, Cain Velasquez, for backup, but the latter failed to replicate a similar result from their bout in the Octagon when he lost his debut WWE match to Lesnar at Crown Jewel. Hence, a wounded father will step in the ring with the Beast for the retribution of his son with nobody at his side.

While Mysterio is not expected to pin The Beast, one thing is certain; this match will not be a cakewalk for the WWE Champion, especially now that the rules have essentially been thrown out the window. The three-time WWE Champion stood tall with a weapon on RAW just a few weeks ago, so the stipulation could give an upper hand to Rey Mysterio. Much like Brock's marches against smaller competitors AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan at the last two Survivor Series events, we should expect a brutal, physical, and fast-paced match. Rey Mysterio will leave it all in the ring, making a strong statement, and while it may seem unlikely, he could be the man to bring down the seemingly unstoppable champion.
