NXT has always provided everyone an excellent alternative for WWE matches. The matches in NXT are of top quality, storytelling is great and characters are mostly built over a longer period so that the fans can connect with the superstar.
NXT TakeOver PPVs are always among the best PPVs of WWE and often produce 'Match of the year' contenders. Let's have a look at 3 matches that are too good to miss.
#3 The Authors of Pain vs #DIY vs The Revival - NXT TakeOver: Orlando
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
What happens when you add Authors of Pain to the incredible chemistry of The Revival and #DIY? You get the best tag match in NXT! The rivalry between The Revival and #DIY is not new. Their encounters are one of the best tag matches of WWE PG era.
The three teams already had some of the best tag matches with one another, but their encounter at NXT TakeOver: Orlando in a Triple Threat Tag Team Elimination Match for the NXT Tag Team Championship was the best.
The match had many cool spots with several false finishes. The biggest pop came when The Revival and #DIY worked together, and a great spot came out of the match when Wilder and Gargano did the double superkick on Akom, while Rezar was met with a shatter machine by Dawson and Ciampa.
#DIY was the first team to get eliminated when AOP finished Ciampa with The Last Chapter. The match ended when AOP hit the double powerbombs on The Revival retaining their tag titles.
#2 Aleister Black vs Velveteen Dream - NXT TakeOver: War Games
The Velveteen Dream and Aleister Black stole the show at NXT TakeOver: War Games, as they played mind-games, throughout the duration of their fabulous match. The build for the match was one of the best - The Velveteen Dream chased Black just to get himself recognised by Black.
The two men put on an absolute classic. The mind-games started as soon as The Velveteen Dream entered the ring when he showed his pants with Dream and Black on either leg. Both men outplayed one another and the taunting was at another level. This match elevated both the stars to a new level and is worthy of 'Match of the Year' contender.
The match ended when Black smashed The Velveteen Dream with the Black Mass for the pin and culminated with Black saying "Enjoy Infamy... VELVETEEN DREAM!" in a show of respect.
#1 Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate - NXT TakeOver: Chicago
The first match between Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate for the inaugural WWE UK Championship is among one of the best matches of the year. They faced each other once again at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, surpassing their already incredible previous meeting and stole the show.
The match had several awesome moves and false finishes. The crowd was electrifying throughout and chants of 'Fight Forever' exhibited the quality of the match. In the final moments of the match, Bate was about to hit Pete with an over-the-top-rope dive but he missed. Dunne rolled Bate into the ring and hit him with the Bitter End to pick up the win.
Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate is a perfect example of a great match with good storytelling. A match which has a winner but no loser!
