One of the most important matchups on the WrestleMania 35 card is undoubtedly that of Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre. The two hulking powerhouses are widely regarded by many, as the top Superstars on Monday Night RAW today, which in turn makes a clash between them all the more intriguing!
Ever since making his on-screen return to the WWE after his battle with leukemia, Reigns has wasted no time whatsoever in reminding everyone why he was once one of the most intimidating performers in the world. Now, although Reigns has put forth several awesome performances since his comeback, "The Big Dog's" momentum has been derailed by "The Scottish Psychopath".
The towering Scotsman, Drew McIntyre, systematically targeted Reigns' Shield stable-mates, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, and eventually ended up obliterating Reigns too on a recent episode of RAW. While their Mania matchup will be excellent, today, we take a look at the feuds that WWE could likely book Reigns and McIntyre in after WrestleMania 35...
#3 Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
This one is perhaps a feud which may involve yet another significant change in the face-heel dynamics of two major Superstars on Monday Night RAW. Presently, both Roman Reigns as well as Seth Rollins are performing as babyfaces on the WWE's flagship Monday night show.
Regardless, should Rollins go on to defeat reigning WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35, "The Architect" sitting atop the throne of RAW would shake up the entire landscape of the WWE! Let's face it, the most likely outcome of the Shield mastermind winning the title off "The Beast Incarnate", would be that Rollins would eventually feud with Reigns.
Speaking of which, the WWE isn't likely to turn Reigns heel anytime soon, particularly with the fact that "The Big Dog" is currently one of the most beloved babyface characters in all of professional wrestling and sports-entertainment.
Ergo, fans can expect the WWE to have Rollins turn heel after WrestleMania 35, and feud with Reigns over the WWE Universal Championship...
#2 Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens
The 2018 calendar year was filled with challenges for Kevin Owens. The man stepped away from active in-ring competition to get surgeries on not one but both of his knees in October of last year. After battling through the scary injury issues, Owens finally made his in-ring comeback to the WWE in February of this year.
However, instead of returning to the RAW brand, where he used to perform before his injury hiatus, Owens was booked to perform on SmackDown, where he received a title shot against WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. Owens came up short in his title matchup against Bryan at WWE's Fastlane PPV, and has been relatively quiet ever since.
Nevertheless, lest we forget, the vast majority of professional wrestling industry experts consider Owens to be held in very high regard by the WWE higher-ups. Additionally, Owens is also one of the few distinguished men who've had the honor of having been the WWE Universal Champion.
Moreover, with the WWE's annual draft aka the post-WrestleMania Superstar Shake-Up around the corner, Owens is likely to return to RAW, and feud with none other than Roman Reigns. Frankly speaking, Reigns needs a fresh face to feud with on RAW, and Owens would most definitely be a better option, rather than having Reigns once again face his former Shield stable-mate Seth Rollins...
#1 Drew McIntyre vs. Finn Balor or Braun Strowman
It's highly essential for us to understand here that Drew McIntyre is surely going to be an important part of the WWE elite for the next 5-10 years at the very least. McIntyre completely changed his physique a few years ago, and has been making waves ever since his return to the WWE.
Although the ideal path for McIntyre, after WrestleMania 35, would be to feud with either Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship; the WWE is likely to adopt a slow and steady approach to The Scottish Psychopath's path to the RAW brand's biggest prize.
The aforesaid path, includes a stop at the IC Title Motel... Didn't follow? Fret not! In simple terms, McIntyre is likely to first win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, before eventually becoming Universal Champion.
The WWE Intercontinental Title is presently held by Bobby Lashley, who's set to defend it against Finn Balor at WrestleMania 35. Although Balor is expected to win the Intercontinental Championship, it's highly likely that the prestigious title could also eventually be captured by another top Superstar who's currently bereft of any meaningful storyline... Braun Strowman.
McIntyre, Balor and Strowman could most definitely find themselves doing battle with one another over the WWE Intercontinental Championship after WrestleMania 35. Which Superstar does eventually end up with the title remains to be seen.
