Austin Theory is ready to take over the WWE

With Roman Reigns holding the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship hostage, WWE requires a fighting champion. A champion who will regularly appear on WWE programming and defend the belt against all comers.

Triple H announced that a new World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned at the upcoming Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia. Since that announcement, fans have set the internet ablaze with who they think should wear this crown, but in reality, there’s only one man who fits the bill: Austin Theory.

Fresh off another successful US title defence, Theory has fully established himself as one of WWE’s brightest stars. No longer is he a prospect in the making, but he’s on the verge of becoming the next big thing.

Day in and day out, Austin Theory has refined his craft over the past few months and shown that he’s not all hype, but a big game player who will replace Roman Reigns in the coming years.

Here are three reasons why Austin Theory would be the perfect choice to win the new World Heavyweight Championship.

#3. Create a new main event star

At Wrestlemania 39, John Cena gave Austin Theory the perfect launchpad into superstardom. However, what one does after such a rub is just as important as getting the rub in the first place. WWE must capitalize on Theory’s newfound momentum before he becomes another failed corporate project.

In a time where Roman Reigns is appearing on a part-time basis, WWE is relying on a plethora of superstars to carry the company. In order for things not to get stale, there must be rotation at the top. Adding Theory to that crop would help spread the workload and keep things fresh.

When the last World Heavyweight Championship was created, Eric Bischoff awarded Triple H the title due to his No. 1 contender status. At the time, Triple H was already a main eventer, but this championship took him to the next level as “The Guy” for a while. For Austin Theory, becoming the new WHC would send him to a completely new stratosphere and establish himself as The Present.

#2. Cody or Seth would be too predictable

As soon as this new championship was announced, Seth Rollins cut a promo on RAW to stake his claim. Fans have been speculating for a while that the Visionary would be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns and lamenting how long it had been since he last won a title.

However, it’s clear as day that Seth Rollins is already an established main eventer, so what would this title do for his current standing? Mr. McMahon once famously said it’s the man that makes the title, not the title who makes the man.

Seth Rollins doesn’t need championship gold to main event shows, Austin Theory does. The title should be used to elevate the whole roster, not just one man.

As for Cody Rhodes, him winning any championship gold that isn’t Roman’s title wouldn’t make sense. He has a story to finish and handing him the WHC after already beating Seth three times and winning the Rumble would quickly turn fans against the American Nightmare.

#1. The next Face of WWE

When it comes to spotting talent, Vince McMahon rarely makes mistakes. This is a man that has given us iconic characters like Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold, The Undertaker & John Cena, just to name a few.

When the boss sees potential, he’s not usually wrong. Before he took a step back from creative, it became clear that Mr. McMahon had identified Austin Theory as his next prodigy.

Vince wasn’t wrong in his selection but in his presentation of the 25-year-old. WWE fans hate being told what to like and they never react well to being force-fed. It’s the same reason why Roman Reigns has only become a legitimate star in the past few years, as Vince’s talent ID wasn’t wrong, but his presentation was.

Triple H has spent the past few months undoing Vince’s handiwork with Theory, ensuring he earns the spotlight on him rather than being handed it. Now that the fans respect his work ethic, it’s time to take things to the next level by crowning him the new World Heavyweight Champion.
