3 Reasons why CM Punk should not cost Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash at the Castle

The feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre has intensified over the last few weeks, especially after The Best in the World cost The Scottish Warrior the World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions, namely WrestleMania 40 and RAW after 'Mania. Punk remains out of action after sustaining an injury at the 2024 Royal Rumble (torn triceps), but he is expected to return soon and challenge McIntyre to a match.

For his part, The Scottish Warrior has recovered from an elbow injury and will take on Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event, which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, this Saturday.

CM Punk could interfere in the match and cost McIntyre again, adding more fuel to the feud, but still, this will not be the best way for WWE to extend their feud. Here are three reasons why:

#3. CM Punk will become a heel should he attack Drew McIntyre in his hometown

Clash at the Castle is a special event for Drew McIntyre, as it takes place in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland. This is the first Premium Live Event in Scotland, and McIntyre is set to headline the event.

Thus, if CM Punk attacks him in his hometown, his plan will certainly backfire, turning him into a heel for the fans. Such a scenario will hurt the feud, as the two have thrived in their roles as babyface and heel, respectively.

#2. Drew McIntyre needs to have a clear win for the World Heavyweight Championship

Drew McIntyre has been targeting the World Heavyweight Championship since winning the Elimination Chamber match back in February. He defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, but his title reign lasted only five minutes, as Damian Priest took advantage of Punk's attack on McIntyre and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become the champion.

Thus, it would now make sense for WWE to have him defeat The Archer of Infamy and have a clear victory for the title in his hometown. That way, McIntyre would then focus on his feud with CM Punk, having already achieved his target of reclaiming the title.

#1. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre match should be for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam

The match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is expected to take place in one of the coming Premium Live Events. Even though it will be one of the top matches on the card, WWE should raise the stakes even higher and make it for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Punk should challenge The Scottish Warrior for the title at SummerSlam, which is considered the second-best event for WWE after WrestleMania. The match card for August's Premium Live Event is expected to be filled with big matches, and one of them should be between the two megastars.

And to do so, he will need to step up and challenge for the championship without using any underhand tactics to provoke Drew McIntyre. With that in mind, Saturday's main event will shed more light on what plans WWE has for the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre feud.
