On Saturday, November 2nd, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will take on the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Crown Jewel. The two champions will battle it out for the Crown Jewel Championship, a title Triple H recently revealed at Bad Blood.

For most of 2024, Cody and Gunther have been the two most dominant forces in the company, and fans are now ready to see who is the best. However, there is an external concern with this match, that being the potential outside interference from the WWE Hall of Famer, Goldberg.

The former Universal Champion was recently at the receiving end of a verbal onslaught by Gunther at Bad Blood earlier this month, which resulted in Goldberg trying to get into the ring and attack The Ring General.

With their score seemingly unsettled and with Gunther currently without a clear challenger, many fans have been expecting Goldberg to show up at Crown Jewel and potentially cost Gunther the win.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Whilst some people may want to see this, we will look at three reasons why Goldberg should not interfere in Cody and Gunther's match at Crown Jewel.

#3. WWE Fans have been wanting this match for a long time

The Crown Jewel Championship match in Saudi Arabia will see Cody Rhodes and Gunther face off in a singles match in WWE for the first time, a match that many fans have been dying to see.

In 2023, the two stars were the final duo in the Men's Royal Rumble Match, which saw Cody eliminate the Austrian to advance to the main event of WrestleMania 39. While it was not a traditional singles contest, fans got a taste of what a potential match between the two of them could look like.

Speaking on WWE's After the Bell in 2023, Gunther spoke about why a match between him and Rhodes would be perfect for him.

"Obviously, that was just a taste for everybody. Cody is one of those guys where that's a perfect match for me. Perfect opposites, if that makes sense. The match is right there whenever it needs to happen. If it happens in Europe, that would be fantastic,"

Fast-forward to 2024, and the moment is finally here, with fans wanting to see who the top dog in the company is. Therefore, outside interference by Goldberg or anyone else would be an unwelcome addition to the match on November 2nd.

#2. The Hall of Famer should ride off into the sunset

While Golberg may still physically look like an in-ring performer, there is one thing to look like one other than being able to perform like one.

The WWE Hall of Famer has not competed in the ring since February 2022 at the Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia, where he failed to defeat Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Since then, there has arguably not been a huge clamor for him to make his return to the squared circle.

One person who earlier this year was not sure about a Goldberg retirement match was Goldberg himself, who gave his honest opinion about stepping into the ring one last time in an interview on 93.7 The Ticket.

"I’ll be perfectly honest with you. I’ve kind of put that on the back burner. Right now, I’ve segued into dad, first and foremost, and husband and car host. I’m just having fun at my garage. So I really don’t have a lot of time right now to dedicate to prepping for a retirement match,"

Having already carved out an iconic career for himself, Goldberg certainly does not need one more match or moment in the ring with any of today's talent.

#1. A former opponent of Goldberg's should be the one to interfere

While it can be argued that a straightforward one-on-one match is what fans want to see between Cody Rhodes and Gunther, interference from the right person may be beneficial to the contest.

The WWE superstar who could insert themselves into the match for the betterment of the story could be Kevin Owens rather than Goldberg. The Canadian recently turned heel after he attacked Cody Rhodes in the parking lot following Bad Blood.

Owens' attack was seemingly due to his anger towards The American Nightmare teaming with a returning Roman Reigns, a superstar with whom both Rhodes and Owens had issues over the past few years.

Recently, Owens was asked by WWE officials to stay home during shows. However, not being one to play by the rules, fans shouldn't be surprised if Kevin shows up at Crown Jewel to cost Rhodes the win, leading to a potential match between the pair at Survivor Series in November.
