It has been nine months since Omos last had a match in WWE. The former champion competed at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal the night before WrestleMania 40.
Since then, he hasn't shown up on WWE, and there has been speculation about his future with the company. With that in mind, we look at three reasons we might not see him on WWE TV anytime soon.
#3. WWE Creative may have given up on Omos
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
Omos has never become a dominant force in WWE, even though he has competed for many years. A few years ago, he had a successful run alongside AJ Styles as the RAW Tag Team Champions, but he hasn't shown significant progress since then, even though he has faced top stars like Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar.
Thus, WWE may not see him as part of the company's new era as they move to Netflix. The creative team and WWE executives may have given up on him and don't believe he can make a difference on RAW or SmackDown.
#2. WWE may not have a clear direction for him on the Road to WrestleMania
The Road to WrestleMania kicks off sooner than ever, starting this Monday, January 6, when RAW moves to Netflix. Monday's blockbuster show is expected to shed more light on what WWE Creative has planned for WrestleMania 41, as the top stars will show up on the red brand.
As The Nigerian Giant has been out since early April, it appears that WWE Creative has no clear direction for him, and there is not a storyline he could get involved in heading to the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Still, this could change going forward. Omos has shown he can make a difference in the tag team division, so a reunion with AJ Styles or an alliance with another WWE star would make sense.
At the same time, he could return as a heel and join one of RAW's factions, like The Judgment Day or The Wyatt Sicks, making his WWE return smoother. However, WWE hasn't hinted at Omos' return; thus, it could be safe to assume that there are no plans for him.
#1. Omos could continue working with NOAH
Amid his WWE hiatus, the WWE Superstar appeared at Pro Wrestling NOAH and had a Tag Team title match. He teamed up with Jack Morris and defeated Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura to become the new GHC Tag Team Champions.
He became the first-ever active WWE star to win a title in NOAH, and we could see him stay in Japan for the foreseeable future. As WWE Creative appears to have no plans for him at the moment, it could make sense for Omos to continue showing up at NOAH, especially now that he has become a tag team champion.
It is not unusual for a WWE star to appear in other promotions, so the star could spend some time at NOAH before returning to WWE.
