Randy Orton and Gunther are set to face each other again at the upcoming WWE Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event at the end of this month. While this may seem to be an exciting and challenging match for both men, it may also be quite the opposite.
Gunther defeated Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024 for the World Heavyweight Championship. His first title defense will be against Randy Orton, whom The Ring General faced at the King of the Ring tournament final. Their feud continues to heat up on WWE RAW, and while the match will have its good sides for both men, it will also have its negatives.
In this list, we will look at three reasons why Randy Orton vs. Gunther is a bad idea for Bash in Berlin.
#3. Predictable outcome
As mentioned above, Gunther just won the title earlier this month at The Biggest Party of the Summer. With how WWE has been building The Ring General as a dominant star for years, it's quite impossible to think that the company will book him to lose immediately.
Seeing how The Ring General's Intercontinental Championship reign went, his World Heavyweight title run could be something similar. Due to this, the match at WWE Bash in Berlin will most likely see the champion retain, defend it against other top stars, and hold on to the title until another worthy contender comes around.
#2. Randy Orton's legitimacy might be questioned if he loses at WWE Bash in Berlin
Although The Ring General is one of the most dominant stars in WWE today, Randy Orton has cultivated his legacy for the past two decades in the company. He is a 14-time world champion and shared the ring with legends and future Hall of Famers.
The Viper losing to Gunther could look bad for his character. Although it could be said that losing to someone like The Ring General wouldn't be the worst thing to happen, it could make him look like a washed-up veteran. This would be more of a problem if Orton finally challenges Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship, which many are looking forward to.
#1. Randy Orton winning against Gunther could lead to another major match
While it could look bad on Randy to lose against Gunther at Bash in Berlin, the situation would feel the same if the roles were reversed. If the champion fails, his credibility will be affected, especially as he is holding a world title now. However, Orton winning could lead him to feud with a future Hall of Famer.
As many may know, John Cena will retire in 2025. Several stars have expressed their desire to face him for the final time, and one WWE star fans want to see him share the ring with for the final time is Randy Orton. It would be nice to see Randy win the World Heavyweight title and defend it against the 16-time world champion.
