At SummerSlam 2024, Sami Zayn faced Bron Breakker in a bid to defend the Intercontinental Championship. While Zayn put his best foot forward in the match, Breakker was eventually able to beat him and win his first singles title in the Stamford-based promotion.
However, this loss does not mean Zayn won't get a chance to win back his title. In a backstage segment with Jey Uso, the Canadian revealed he asked Adam Pearce for a rematch. The RAW GM granted this request and Zayn will now face Breakker for the Intercontinental Title in a two out of three falls match on RAW next week.
In this article, we will look at three reasons why Sami Zayn should not dethrone Bron Breakker in the title match next week:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3. Sami Zayn beating Bron Breakker at this point would lower the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship
Before Sami Zayn could hold the Intercontinental Championship, Gunther held the belt for 666 days. During his reign as champion, The Ring General increased the prestige of the belt by holding it for such a long duration. While Zayn could not replicate the same, the WWE Universe will expect Breakker to do it.
After all, if the Intercontinental Championship keeps changing hands so quickly, somewhere it will affect the great prestige the title has. Hence, it would be wise for Breakker to have his run before Zayn or any other superstar dethrones him.
#2. Will affect Bron Breakker's momentum
Since moving to the main roster from NXT, Bron Breakker has been able to make a lot of noise. Breakker's consistent performances on the mic and inside the ring have led him to win the Intercontinental Championship and he is carrying great momentum.
If he is booked to lose the Intercontinental Title to Sami Zayn so soon after winning it, the loss will surely affect Breakker's momentum on the main roster. Hence, it would be better for Breakker to keep the title as long as possible so that WWE can prepare him for an eventual World Championship run in the future.
#1. Sami Zayn won't be able to be part of The Bloodline storyline
At SummerSlam, Roman Reigns made his return to WWE for the first time since WrestleMania 40 and confronted Solo Sikoa. While Reigns returned alone at the PLE, he will surely look to have the backing of more people when he faces Sikoa and his Bloodline again.
Several speculations suggest Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso will be on Reigns' side when he confronts Sikoa and his Bloodline. If that's the case, then Sami Zayn could also be on Team Roman as he was a member of the original Bloodline. If Zayn wins the title, being champion and involving himself in the Bloodline story won't be possible.
