WWE NXT aired last night on The CW. As has become common for the silver and black brand, the program was absolutely insane with tons of chaos taking place alongside some fantastic wrestling.

One of the most chaotic aspects of NXT right now is the tag team scene. The various teams on the brand are constantly fighting in the hopes of becoming number one contenders for Fraxiom's titles.

During one of these brawls, Eddy Thorpe was arguing with the NXT General Manager Ava, even grabbing her arm. The brawling teams then bumped into a door and it smashed into Ava, causing her to fall. Later, a furious Shawn Michaels checked on her, only to snap at Thrope.

The Heartbreak Kid yelled at Thorpe and essentially pinned the young star up against the wall. Now, many wonder if Michaels will be coming out of retirement for a match with Eddy. While anything is possible, Shawn should not make that decision. This article will look at a handful of reasons why Michaels should avoid returning to the wrestling ring to fight Eddy Thorpe.

Below are three reasons why Shawn Michaels must not come out of retirement against Eddy Thorpe in WWE.

#3. Shawn Michaels had an amazing send-off from WWE

Shawn Michaels had an incredible wrestling career. He started competing in the 1980s and wrestled for a few territories before eventually joining WWE. He'd go on to become a multi-time World Champion and one of the biggest names in the company.

The Heartbreak Kid retired from in-ring competition in 1998 due to a serious back injury. While many WWE fans thought they'd never see Shawn compete again, he returned to the ring for an even better second run beginning in 2002.

March 18th, 2010 saw WrestleMania 26 take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium. The event saw The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels battle in a Streak vs. Career Match. The 24-minute match was amazing and one of the best bouts of all time.

Shawn lost in that match, but it was the perfect conclusion to a storybook career. He got a send-off in the biggest spot possible and in arguably the best match imaginable. Returning to the ring would diminish such an amazing send-off and Shawn would be unwise to do that... again.

#2. He came out of retirement once and it was disastrous

While Shawn Michaels had an incredible send-off, it wasn't actually the last match he competed in. The WWE Hall of Famer returned to the ring on November 2nd, 2018 at the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia.

Michaels' return was in tag team action. He and Triple H reunited as D-Generation X and they took on The Brothers of Destruction; Kane and The Undertaker. Kane had been mostly retired at this point and both The Deadman and The Game were on the tail end of their respective careers.

The match was a total disaster. Kane's mask kept falling off, Triple H was injured early into the bout, and the chemistry some of the stars had in the past was missing. To this day, fans try to forget the match even exists.

Knowing how badly his one attempt to come out of retirement went, Shawn likely wouldn't be willing to further damage his reputation and risk having another disaster of a match. Given that it has been six years since that contest in 2018, there is an even greater likelihood of things going awry this time.

#1. Eddy Thorpe isn't a big enough name for Shawn to come out of retirement for

Many fans reading this article may not be aware of who Eddy Thorpe is. Eddy is a WWE NXT star who had a run in New Japan Pro Wrestling before coming to World Wrestling Entertainment. He is known for representing his Native American heritage, being a DJ, and dating Dakota Kai.

Eddy Thorpe is a talented performer who has had some high-quality matches with the likes of Nathan Frazer, Dijak, and others. Despite that, he is a low-card performer who isn't even booked all that consistently on the silver and black WWE brand.

If Shawn Michaels were to come out of retirement, it would be to battle someone such as Kevin Owens or AJ Styles on the main roster. Even if he wanted to wrestle somebody from NXT, it would be a top name such as Trick Williams or Wes Lee. A match with a talent like Eddy Thorpe, despite being skilled, wouldn't be worth coming out of retirement for The Heartbreak Kid.
