On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, WWE officially announced the highly anticipated rematch between Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes. Anticipating interference, The American Nightmare boldly invited The Bloodline to the ring, knowing they would likely interrupt anyway.

Once they arrived, Cody took the opportunity to provoke Jacob Fatu, urging him to step out of Solo’s shadow. This confrontation ultimately led to the announcement of a Solo vs. Cody rematch.

WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then confirmed that the match will take place on the next episode of SmackDown, the first episode of the blue brand on the USA Network. To ensure thTe Bloodline’s numbers advantage wouldn’t play a role, it was also revealed that this bout will be contested inside a steel cage.

In this article, we’ll explore three key reasons why WWE is scheduling Solo Sikoa vs. Cody Rhodes - Part Two for next week, rather than saving it for Bad Blood 2024.

#3. WWE has other plans for Cody Rhodes for Bad Blood 2024

One reason the Stamford-based promotion may have decided to schedule Rhodes vs. Sikoa Part Two on SmackDown rather than at Bad Blood 2024 is that WWE likely has different plans for The American Nightmare. Bad Blood is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

With plenty of time remaining after the upcoming SmackDown, the company can focus on building a fresh storyline or feud for Rhodes leading into the premium live event.

This suggests that WWE is aiming to wrap up the unfinished business between Rhodes and Solo Sikoa on SmackDown, allowing Cody to move on to a new challenger at Bad Blood 2024.

#2. It's SmackDown Premiere on the USA network

The upcoming edition of SmackDown isn't just a regular episode of the blue brand but it's a special premiere for Friday Nights on the USA Network. Featuring an Undisputed WWE Title match, particularly the Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa rematch, adds significant anticipation and makes the show feel like a major event.

The last time SmackDown moved to a new network, they featured a WWE Championship bout where Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston to become the new champion. This shows that world title matches are often reserved for these special premiere episodes.

With that precedent in mind, it’s clear why WWE chose to schedule Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa for next week’s SmackDown instead of saving it for Bad Blood 2024.

#1. WWE might be planning the return of Roman Reigns during Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa

Roman Reigns was originally advertised to appear on the September 13, 2024, edition of SmackDown. However, he was later pulled from the advertisement. The Stamford-based promotion likely has plans for Reigns' return soon, which may be why they scheduled Solo Sikoa vs. Cody Rhodes for this show instead of Bad Blood.

In this scenario, The Original Tribal Chief could return and once again cost Sikoa the Undisputed WWE Title, mirroring the events of SummerSlam 2024.

Reigns' return during the Steel Cage match for the Undisputed WWE Title would be an excellent way to elevate the SmackDown premiere and make it feel like an even bigger event.
