Where will Morrison go?
Where will Morrison go?

WWE announced the signing of John Morrison this week, as he has signed a multi-year deal. Upon the huge announcement, Morrison himself broke the news on social media as well. The return of Morrison has ignited great interest amongst fans, and it remains to be seen where Morrison ends up going.

Morrison began his wrestling career in WWE by winning Tough Enough in 2002. He was awarded a WWE contract, and he went on to make his main roster debut two years later. Staying for seven years in his first stint, Morrison won several titles in WWE. The high-flyer won the Intercontinental Title three times, ECW World Title once, and the Tag Team Titles five times with two different tag team partners. However, it is currently unclear whether Morrison will join the Blue Brand or the Red Brand.

In this article, we analyze three reasons why John Morrison may go to SmackDown.

#3 An opportunity to reunite with The Miz

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Morrison is a five-time Tag Team Champion. While he won the twin belts thrice with Joey Mercury, he also won twice with The Miz, who is currently part of SmackDown. If Morrison gets drafted to SmackDown, he will get the opportunity to reunite with his former tag team partner, possibly forming a tag team on the Blue Brand.

The heel duo were foes earlier, but they cleared out differences to build a new tag team, which proved to be a huge success. Remaining a tag team for two years, they dominated the tag team division of SmackDown, winning the 'Tag Team of the Year' in 2008. They eventually split up after WrestleMania 25, as The Miz was drafted to RAW.

The Miz is currently playing a side role in the Universal Championship feud between Daniel Bryan and The Fiend. The A-Lister, however, hasn't been in a major feud since challenging Shinsuke Nakamura at Clash of Champions. Either Morrison could join SmackDown as a heel, attacking The Miz, or he could reunite with The Miz forming a new tag team on the Blue Brand.

#2 RAW already has several high-flyers and talented performers

RAW has many high-flyers
RAW has many high-flyers

It's no secret that Morrison is an exceptional wrestler, who is quick between the ropes. With his high-flying skills and delicate maneuvers, Morrison delivered some stupendous bouts in WWE, making him one of the best performers during his first stint in WWE. Given his dexterity in the ring, he could be a huge asset for either of the two brands.

RAW, which is a three-hour show, is already stacked with a number of high-flyers, especially after the recent draft. SmackDown, on the other hand, is in dire need to add some more high flyers, who could produce some extraordinary matches every week. Known to take high-risks in the ring, Morrison is suitable to match the criteria.

The Flagship show has some adept high-flyers like Cedric Alexander, Ricochet, Humberto Carrillo, Rey Mysterio, Andrade, and AJ Styles. Furthermore, Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy, and Seth Rollins can offer fast-paced matches on a regular basis. In comparison, SmackDown doesn't have such impressive performers except for a couple of names. Hence, Morrison can get overlooked by some incredible performers on RAW, while he can stand out from the rest if he decides to join the Blue Brand.

#1 Fox's SmackDown will get another big name

SmackDown moved to Fox in October, which was certainly a monumental feat for WWE, considering Fox is one of the biggest networks in the United States. The company certainly drew a lot of attention to SmackDown after a blockbuster debut of the show with a number of big names. Since moving to Fox, the Blue Brand has been getting more ratings than RAW, becoming the actual A-show of the company.

Several top stars are part of SmackDown now, and they help to get ratings. When the draft took place after the Fox move, a number of notable names swapped brands in a move to make the product more exciting. Besides the reigning Universal Champion The Fiend; Braun Strowman, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, The New Day, Sasha Banks, and Bayley are some significant names on the Blue Brand. In fact, Brock Lesnar also got drafted to the Blue Brand, but he quit it after Crown Jewel and moved back to RAW.

While Morrison may not be a huge main event Superstar, he is still a prominent name in the mid-card. Having wrestled in different promotions in the last eight years, Morrison honed his skills and earned his name in the wrestling world. Therefore, Fox would love to add another big name in the star-studded SmackDown roster.
