It is a well-known fact that Kane (Glen Jacobs), had announced that he was officially running for the mayoral seat of Knox Country, Tennesee as a Republican. This is the main reason for his absence from the WWE. On 2nd August 2018, Kane was elected as the Mayor. He beat the Democrat candidate Linda Heney. He is the second WWE star to gain a foothold in the run for public office in the US, following in Jesse Ventura's footsteps. He is to be sworn in as Mayor next month on the 1st of September, 2018.
It will be extremely difficult for him to wrestle in the WWE as the Mayor of Knox Country. There is a possibility of him being named in the Hall of Fame Class of 2019.
