This probably isn't a very explicit intention of the booking, but rather an indirect benefit that comes along with it.

The Miz was a long-time heel until his recent face turn. It's only his second run as a babyface in the company; his first one did not pan out well.

While the face turn is a welcome change for the A-Lister, he didn't set the world on fire. It is pretty evident that he thrives in a heel role as he performed it for nearly a decade, and a face turn is a new avenue for him.

Similarly, Reigns has started to receive positive reactions after his comeback from Leukemia. Roman has seen both aspects of crowd involvement during his face run.

The hardcore fans have started to respect the Miz for his work ethic and the casual fans have always been in love with Roman Reigns.

Thus, they might have been paired to hype each other up even if it would be a short-term plan.
