WWE is notorious for throwing major swerves at the last moments, whether the WWE Universe likes it or not. Their motto has always been to shock the fans, no matter the aftermath.
This past Monday on WWE Raw, Roman Reigns made his long-awaited return to the ring, to give an update on his battle with leukaemia. The update turned out to be a huge announcement, as Reigns stated that he was coming back with immediate effect!
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Reigns' return has thwarted major WrestleMania plans, just like Kofi's gauntlet latch performance did weeks ago.
Rumours are going around that Roman could very well become a part of the Universal title main event. Here are three reasons why this rumour could not only come true, Reigns might even go on to leave the event with his hand held high.
#3 No credible opponent for Roman
The Show of Shows is approaching fast, and there doesn't seem to be a credible opponent for Reigns to share the big stage with.
Unless The Rock himself returns to have a short program with his cousin at Mania, Reigns won't get a major match at the grandest stage of them all. And this is exactly why WWE might want to thrust him in the main event of Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins.
Even though this match doesn't need more star power, WWE wouldn't mind adding Reigns in there to turn it into an even bigger Mania bout.
#2 Unfinished business
Reigns was the Universal champion when he had to leave the WWE to begin his fight against leukaemia. He was forced to relinquish the title because of the disease, and it's only fair that he gets the shot immediately upon his return.
Moreover, there's another unfinished business at play here. Roman and Brock went toe to toe at WrestleMania 31 in a bloody brawl, but the sudden cash in by Rollins ruined everything for the two behemoths.
Reigns could bring up that moment while claiming that he never forgot how Seth screwed him out of the title at the biggest stage ever, and he has waited all this time to finally get even with him and Lesnar.
#1 WWE's obsession with Reigns and WrestleMania
If the past four years are any indication, WWE has been obsessed with Reigns main-eventing The Show of Shows.
Roman main-evented his first Mania against Lesnar, followed by his Mania outings with Triple H, The Undertaker and Lesnar again. It's no secret that WWE has regularly put Reigns on the frontline when it comes to Mania, and WrestleMania 35 might not be any different.
To the company's utter delight, Reigns managed to go into remission more than a month before WrestleMania, and this has given them an opportunity they were craving for, ever since Roman left the WWE.
Just like how WWE pushed Hogan and Cena to successive 'Mania main events, they would certainly want to do the same with The Big Dog. Don't be surprised if WWE somehow inserts Roman Reigns straight into the Universal title match at WrestleMania 35.
