#2 Poor booking in WWE
Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura battled for the United States Championship for months and when Rusev captured the championship on the Christmas special episode of SmackDown Live, it looked like both Rusev's character and the US title would get a fresh start.

Shinsuke Nakamura won the United States Championship in a controversial manner that night. This move puzzled the WWE Universe as they expected Rusev to have a prosperous reign at least until WrestleMania 35. Just when we thought Nakamura and Rusev could have a fantastic WrestleMania feud, the creative team put the title on R-Truth.
Not only did they put the title on R-Truth, they even formed a tag team of rivals, Rusev and Nakamura, for no reason. These decisions might have forced Rusev to finally think about his exit.
