Many fans have complaints that WWE games don't have up-to-date rosters and 2K often omits deserving stars from available editions. Last year, Mike Kanellis, The Hardy Boyz, Drew Mcintyre, Elias, and Aleister Black were left off the original edition of 2K18, to the chagrin of many fans. However, this year's roster covers a vast range of superstars from the past ( previous eras), the present ( the current main roster) and the future (The NXT roster).

Only a few notable omissions have been made, which includes Bobby Lashley, EC3 and Ricochet. Other than these 3 aforementioned stars, the roster is completely up to date. Drew Mcintyre, Elias, Andrade 'Cien' Almas and The Deleters of Worlds are also a part of the playable roster.
