CM Punk is preparing for the end of his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, which started back in January and has gone on for months. The Best in the World and The Scottish Warrior will collide in a Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood this Saturday, October 5.
The WWE megastar will then shift his attention to his next feud, which could be against Ethan Page after he used his GTS finishing move on the former NXT Champion earlier in the week.
The long-term plan for CM Punk is to continue his rivalry with Seth Rollins, leading to a blockbuster match at WrestleMania 41 in April. But will he still be a face by then, or will he have a heel turn? We take a look at three signs that The Best in the World will turn heel soon.
#3. Hitting Ethan Page with the GTS
CM Punk got heavily involved in the title match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams in the NXT premiere on CW. Punk was the Special Guest Referee and made it clear that he would cut the match down the middle.
Still, his confrontation with Ethan Page led to a GTS from Punk after the match, setting the stage for a future feud between the two.
However, fans claimed that The Best in the World's actions were a sign that he attempted to steal Trick Williams' spot, as the latter was celebrating when CM Punk hit Ethan Page with the GTS.
If that is the case, Punk could target Trick next and move to NXT to feud with Page and the new champion.
#2. CM Punk hinted at a heel turn
CM Punk has been a face since he returned to WWE a year ago. He was a face during his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, who is considered a top heel in WWE.
But, the WWE megastar hinted at a heel turn during an appearance at the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, where he was asked about being a good guy now in WWE compared to being a heel during his first stint with the Stamfod-based company.
"Talk to me in 6 months," CM Punk replied, teasing a heel turn as part of his rivalry with Seth Rollins.
#1. Seth Rollins returned as a babyface
Eight weeks after a brutal assault from Bronson Reed, Seth Rollins returned to RAW and cost the 36-year-old his Last Monster Standing Match against Braun Strowman.
The Visionary was recovering from his injuries and is now back for revenge. His going after Bronson Reed, a top heel in the business, is a clear sign that The Visionary has come back as a face.
That said, as Rollins is set to re-ignite his rivalry with Punk once his feud with Bronson Reed is over, fans should consider it a no-brainer that The Best in the World will be a heel when he collides with the former World Heavyweight Champion.
